Following a recent Supreme Court order directing the removal of all stray dogs from Delhi streets to shelters, numerous Bollywood celebrities have spoken out in favor of the animals. Many have expressed concern and criticized the decision as inhumane and impractical, advocating for alternative solutions. John Abraham has called them community dogs and not strays. Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan re-shared a viral note on their Instagram stories. Raveena Tandon blamed local authorities for the increase in the stray dog population. Other celebrities who have voiced their opposition include Rasha Thadani, Siddharth Anand, Zoya Akhtar, Bhumi Pednekar, Shefali Shah, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma, and Varun Grover.
Netizens are angry at these celebs for being tone-deaf. "These people live in posh localities and bungalows. They always travel by their SUVs. They don't know the amount of fear ordinary people face because of the packs of dogs they encounter on the streets of India," an X user lamented.
