Odela 2 is a devotional action thriller whose Trailer is out. Directed by Ashok Teja, the film is essentially a Sampath Nandi film; he has written and created it.
Tamannaah Bhatia plays a ferocious Naga Sadhu named Shiva Shakti, while Vasishta N Simha plays a devil-incarnate. The Trailer suggests that the film leans heavily on mythical tropes, including a revered holy snake, but stumbles under its own ambition. Drawing inspiration from films like Arundhathi, it aims for grandeur but lands in a tacky aesthetic.
The VFX, meant to elevate the supernatural stakes, instead distracts with its clunky execution. The characters, locked in incessant verbal duels, shout their way through the script. Is volume intensity?
Yuva, Naga Mahesh, Vamshi, Gagan Vihari, Surender Reddy, Bhupal, and Pooja Reddy will be seen in different roles. Produced by D Madhu, Odela 2 has cinematography by Soundar Rajan S and music by Ajaneesh Loknath (whose score has similarities with his Mangalavaaram tune).
Odela 2 will head to theatres on April 17th.
