'Joker 2' Gets Butchered by Indian Theaters

'Joker: Folie à Deux' aka 'Joker 2' has been released in theatres. The American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips has got two intervals on certain screens in India.

The discretionary powers used by the Indian exhibitors are irking the cine-goer community. "If foreign filmmakers ever see how their movies are commercially 'screened' in India with random interval blocks, projection f*ck-ups, endless disclaimers and ads, they might need to be airlifted out of the hall," commented film critic Rahul Desai.

As per a Netizen, this problem has been happening since 'Anatomy of a Fall', released in 2023. "There is one interval that distributors hardcode for India knowing it has intervals, but theatres like PVR randomly stop the movie when they feel like it. So we have two intervals because theatres are moronic," he added.

Indian theatres have been accused of "butchering" the original vision. "Director David Fincher was so irritated they didn't release 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' in India," a movie buff added.
