Triple Trouble: Devi Sri Prasad's Pan-Indian Dreams Derailed

It looks like Devi Sri Prasad's image has been battered by three setbacks in quick succession. And they all are big-ticket, pan-Indian movies.

Suriya's 'Kanguva' had an ultra-loud background score. Even if you discount the decibel levels, the score was not inventive by any stretch of the imagination. Much of the criticism against the score must lie with director Siva, though. Yet, DSP's image took a beating, perception-wise.

The controversy surrounding the background score of 'Pushpa 2' is another major setback. Director Sukumar and actor Allu Arjun opting for other music directors for the BGM has given rise to the impression that DSP's score is inept.

'Good Bad Ugly', starring Ajith Kumar in the lead, is another movie DSP has missed out on. Either by choice or otherwise, he is not composing its score. GV Prakash Kumar has been roped in. The songs are composed by DSP. DSP might have voluntarily abandoned the movie due to his differences with Mythri Movie Makers.

As it is, the rise of Thaman, Anirudh Ravichander, Ajaneesh B Loknath and Sam CS (lately) has been working against Devi Sri Prasad. 'Pushpa 2', 'Good Bad Ugly' and 'Kanguva' have only further diminished his stature.
