Ahead of the release of a Netflix docudrama about Nayanthara, the 'Sye Raa' and 'Jawan' actress has been at the receiving end of so much hate. She has been accused of playing the PR game to perpetuate the 'lie' that she is a Lady Superstar. "Nayanthara is being well-presented as a Lady Superstar by her PR team. They make an effort to imprint this in our minds, just as we proclaim Rajinikanth as a superstar in the male world," a netizen wrote.
Nayanthara's fans have been coming to her defence against what they deem as unfair trolling of their favourite actress. "Let this woman be in peace!! Her resilience is something unmatched. I admire her resilience the most," a supporter of Nayan wrote. "Right from my childhood I have never seen any actress receiving as much hate as her. No men were hated so much. But she stomped through all that and became what she's today, successful in both professional and personal life," another fan argued.
A few women see the role of misogyny here. "A successful woman rightfully gets her due after all the slutshaming, hate and ostracism she faced, yet the quotes are full of male stans who want to drag her down. Misogyny is so deeply ingrained in Indian men," a female social media user wrote in defence of Nayanthara.
