'Kalki 2898 AD' has grossed Rs 1,000 Cr at the box office in Gross terms. A day after this milestone, director Nag Ashwin put out an Instagram story thanking his team.

In his now-deleted story, the director indirectly downgraded 'Animal', Sandeep Reddy Vanga's blockbuster from 2023. Nag Ashwin wrote, "We achieved it without blood, gore, obscenity, provocative or exploitative content. Means so much."

Although the 'Mahanati' maker didn't mention 'Animal', his intention is evident. 'Animal' has been seen as synonymous with gore and obscenity by its critics.

Nag Ashwin's post has resulted in an online duel between the fans of 'Animal' and 'Kalki'. The fans of Vanga are criticizing Ashwin for being boastful. "'Kalki' worked because of its superstar cast, and the mixture of religious themes with a futuristic world setting. Its first half was so boring. 'Animal' had just raw heroism, great music, and intense action scenes," Vanga's fans wrote.
