'Siren' is slated to hit the cinemas in Telugu on February 23. Its Tamil version was released today (February 16). 'Ponniyin Selvan' actor Jayam Ravi has headlined the action thriller co-starring Keerthy Suresh in the lead.
If Kollywood film critics are to be believed, 'Siren' is going to be a super flop in Telugu. Jayam Ravi hardly has any theatrical market in the Telugu States. And if the content is poor, his films are dead on arrival.
In its review, Film Companion described Siren's writing as contrived and forced. The film critic gave a few examples from the screenplay. "There are many scenes that have been included just to take the story forward and some seem too contrived. The writing – not just of the story but even the characters - could have been better to make it more engaging," opined Hindustan Times. Even ToI, the most charitable when it comes to reviews, didn't like the movie much. "Speaking of the cast, there are no standouts or star performers in the film. The performances are unanimously forgetful," its critic wrote.
