Waves OTT surpasses 1 Million downloads, says Minister

Prasar Bharati’s flagship OTT platform, WAVES, has hit a significant milestone, crossing 1 million downloads within just one month of its launch. The platform has quickly captured the hearts of viewers across India, offering a unique blend of nostalgic classics alongside contemporary content.

The platform, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, is a one-stop destination for a wide array of entertainment, with a rich catalog of content spanning more than 12 languages and ten genres. It includes not only timeless TV shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat, but also an exciting lineup of new-age content, bridging the past with the present.

Its key features include 65 live channels, a massive library of shows, films, and documentaries, free-to-play gaming, and seamless online shopping via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

Fauji 2.0 on the platform is touted to be a modern reboot of the iconic show starring Shah Rukh Khan. Kicking Balls is a new project from Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor. Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge is a thought-provoking and quirky show exploring the theme of mobile toilets, offering a perspective on modern-day challenges. There are also exclusive student films showcasing creative and fresh content by emerging filmmakers from top institutions like FTII and Annapurna College. The upcoming US Premier League Cricket will be telecast live.

The OTT platform also embraces a family-friendly approach, with games like Krishna Jump and Ram the Yodha, as well as animated series like Chhota Bheem and Tenaliram, which are sure to entertain children and adults alike.
