On Monday, at an event to celebrate the blockbuster run of 'Jailer', Rajinikanth commented that he had found the film just above average when he watched it without the background score. "I watched the final cut of the film before re-recording was done. I felt it was above average. It was Anirudh who elevated the film with his score," the Superstar said.
'Jailer' is the biggest hit in Rajini's career in terms of box-office collections. By publicly describing the film minus the BGM as not so great, the legendary actor may have unwittingly offended director Nelson Dhilipkumar.
Netizens are of the view that Rajini shouldn't have made the remarks even though it has been pretty much clear to one and all that Anirudh's score is the film's second hero (some would say that his BGM is the first hero). "Rajini acted in boring films like 'Darbar' and 'Lingaa' in recent years. He didn't remark unfavourably about those movies. He has singled out 'Jailer', which is strange and slightly stupid," a Facebook user wrote.
