Hyderabad police Commissioner CV Anand today made remarks against the recent Telugu blockbuster 'Baby'. The reason he cited is far-fetched and shockingly arbitrary.
The top cop opined that the film, headlined by Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, promotes the drug culture. He said that the film, directed by Sai Rajesh, normalizes narcotics consumption.
"We appeal to all filmmakers to desist from such portrayals. It is against the CBFC rules," Anand said.
It is unlikely that legal action is taken against the makers of 'Baby'. A film certified by the CBFC gains legitimacy and can't be arbitrarily punished.
The film ran successfully in theatres and grossed Rs 90 Cr. It has been streaming on Aha Video.
