'August 16, 1947' is all set to be released in theatres in Telugu on April 14. Its presenter AR Murugadoss was in Hyderabad for promotions. Jointly produced by Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt, and Narsiram Chaudhary, the film is going to be released in Telugu by NV Prasad of the recent 'GodFather' fame (Chiranjeevi's hit).
Speaking at the presser on Saturday, Murugadoss described the period action drama as a unique and special outing. "August 15th is a very important day in the history of India. Our film narrates a story that takes place in a remote village on these three days, namely, August 14, 15 and 16. Freedom is all about conquering fear. We all know when we attained freedom but here was a village where slavery was still in force even after independence from colonial rule," the 'SPYder' director said.
Gautham Karthik is the film's hero. "We have done a lot of hard work. I thank Murugadoss sir for being a part of such a good project. This is a story that will be remembered forever."
The pan-India film is expected to be rich in human emotions. Its trailer shows some poignant visuals without resorting to regular melodrama and cliches.
The film's Tamil version will be released on April 7.
