May 6th: Box-Office fight intensifies in Tollywood

This week, a host of small releases are going to vie for a hit status at the box-office. Films as different as a family entertainer and a human drama are in the fray. It's an interesting week where Ram Gopal Varma, too, has thrown his hat in the ring to try his luck.

May 6th is going to witness the release of four Telugu-language releases in theaters: 'Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam', 'Bhala Thandanana', 'Jayamma Panchayathi' and 'Maa Ishtam'.

The first movie stars Vishwak Sen and Rukshar Dhillon. Sen has described it as his career-best movie. If he finds takers among the family audience, he will come out of the rough guy image bestowed on him by 'Falaknuma Das' and 'Paagal'.

'Bhala Thandanana', directed by two-time director Chaitanya Dantuluri, has been endorsed by SS Rajamouli. A thriller with a twist (probably the lead man Sree Vishnu is heading a secret operation unbeknownst to his girlfriend, who is an investigative journalist), the film has BGM by Mani Sharma.

'Jayamma Panchayathi' will be a sleeper hit if it does well. Starring Suma Kanakala in the central role, its conflict is believed to be literary if not atypical.

'Maa Ishtam', directed by RGV, is releasing after courting a few controversies in the past.
