'Gargi' today hit the cinemas mainly in Tamil and Telugu. The news is that the film's premiers for the media have fetched it critical acclaim.

The Tamil version has been flooded with praises of the highest order, and Sai Pallavi's performance has been lauded unanimously. "A shocking courtroom drama revolving around a brutal incident. Parents must watch this film with their children," tweeted columnist Kaushik LM. Reviewer Rajasekhar described the film as majestic, moving, and seamless. "Director Gautham Ramachandran has delivered a solid drama that deserves all our love and attention. Sai Pallavi is amazing and deserves a National Award along with Kaali Venkat and the director," he added.

But is acclaim enough? The film has to do well at the box office in the era of OTT. The intense legal drama has the qualities of a thriller and it has to be seen whether it will amass audience's support. After a dud like 'Virata Parvam', the 'Fidaa' actress needs a film that clicks at the box office.
