GN Anbu Chezhiyan is considered the richest and most influential Kollywood financier. Although he has been a film producer and distributor as well, he is known more for financing many big-ticket movies done by the likes of Vijay, Rajinikanth and Ajith. It is said that he even forces Kollywood stars to give call sheets to some producers.
The news is that, on Tuesday, 40 locations linked to him came under Income Tax raids. In 2020, similar raids were held during the making of Vijay's 'Master'. At that time, reports claimed that Rs 77 Cr was recovered by the IT department.
Today, many locations not linked to Anbu too witnessed IT raids. A few media reports have stated that properties linked to Kalaipuli S Thanu and SR Prabhu also saw IT raids.
It seems Kollywood is not exactly shocked by the scale of the raids. Anbu has been under the IT radar for years now.
