Vijay's 'Whistle', the Telugu dubbed version of 'Bigil', directed by Atlee, has got good openings in Telugu states. As per sources close to the film's unit, on day 1, the film has grossed Rs.4.2 crores in Andhra and Telangana, which is the highest ever for the 'Thuppakki' star here.
Unlike Rajinikanth, Suriya and Karthi, Vijay doesn't have a great following among Telugu audiences though he is one of the biggest superstars in Tamil. These numbers on day 1 reflect the fact that his market is increasing in the Telugu states.
Mahesh Koneru presented the film in Telugu. Nayanthara acted opposite Vijay in this movie. AR Rahman scored the music.
