Ravi Shankar and Jagapathi Babu, give voice for The Lion King

After having conquered hearts with ‘The Jungle Book’ in 2016, Disney is all set to present its legendary franchise and crown jewel - ‘The Lion King’ – with ground-breaking technology that re-imagines the greatest story ever told. Etched forever in pop culture, the animated version was known for its strong and emotional storytelling and memorable characters that won hearts of fans everywhere.

In what is great news for all Kannada fans, Disney India has roped in legendary stalwarts veneered by generations: P. Ravi Shankar and Jagapathi Babu to voice Mufasa and Scar in the Telugu version of The Lion King!

The award winning P. Ravi Shankar will lend his baritone voice to Mufasa, Simba’s iconic father whereas Jagapathi Babu, who has established a benchmark portraying villains in Telugu cinema, will give his menacing touch to Scar in The Lion King.

“The character of Mufasa has been revered for a long time as an iconic father onscreen, and it was a unique experience to voice for him in Telugu. I did it for my family as they love the movie and many other Disney titles. I am looking forward to presenting the film in Telugu for my fans with my personal touch!” says P. Ravi Shankar.

Adds Jagapathi Babu, “Having portrayed a lot of villainous characters in Telugu cinema, voicing Scar was a different and memorable experience for me, and I was glad to be part of such a grand big-ticket entertainer. Disney films are a perfect package for the entire family and I hope to lend my trademark style to The Lion King as well!”

Directed by ‘Iron Man’ and ‘The Jungle Book’ fame director, Jon Favreau, Disney’s The Lion King is one of the most-anticipated films of recent times. The heroic coming-of-age journey will make it to the large canvas with a pioneering and game changing photo-real animation technology, using cutting-edge tools to make the musical drama come alive on the big screen.
