Actor, playwright, movie director Girish Karnad passed away in Bengaluru today. He was 81 years old and was suffering from prolonged illness.
Girish Karnad was a popular actor in Kannada films. He has done many Hindi films as well. In Telugu he was seen in Komaram Puli, Shankar Dada MBBS, Dharma Chakram.
Girish Karnad was awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan Awards. He is also the recipient of the 1998 Jnanpith Award, the highest literary honour conferred in India.
