Ace comedian
Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam took his last breath at 53. He is survived by his wife and two sons. The actor had suffered from cancer for the past one year and his condition had worsened over recent weeks. Therefore he kept himself away from films for quite some time. Dharmavarapu was being treated in Geetha Hospital at Chaitanyapuri and died few hours ago (December 7, 2013). His body was brought to his residence in Dilshuknagar, Hyderabad and will be created tomorrow at Addanki in Prakasam district. His death is felt by the entire Telugu film industry over who remember his contributions for more than two decades.
Born in Komminenivari Palem in Prakasam district, Dharmavarapu was one of the most successful comedians in Tollywood who acted in dozens of films. He shot to fame with the comedy serial ‘Anandobrahma’ in Doordarshan Saptagiri and then got shifted to the big screen with the film ‘Jayammu Nischayammu Raa’. He directed a film titled ‘Thoka Leni Pitta’ with Naresh. He even hosted several TV shows like ‘Ding Dong’, 'Dharmavarapu Sye Aata', etc. Subrahmanyam was the Chiarman of Andhra Pradesh Cultural Association. Some of his most popular roles in his career are from the films 'Hello Brother', ‘Nuvvu Nenu’, ‘Indra’, ‘Manmadhudu’, ‘Avunanna Kadanna’, ‘Athadu’, ‘Andrudu’, etc. His last film release was Nagarjuna-Nayantara starrer 'Greeku Veerudu'. He was involved with Gunasekhar's 'Rudramadevi' that has Anushka and Rana in lead roles.
