Bombay Ravi aka Ravi Shankar Sharma is no more. Bombay Ravi, well known for his popular song ‘Swara Ranga Ganga Pravahame’ from 1993 ‘Sarigamalu’ film died on Wednesday, the 7th of March in Mumbai.
Born in Delhi on March 3rd, 1926, the 86 year old music director started his film career in Bombay in 1952. Ravi composed several super hit songs in super hit films like ‘Chaudhvin Ka Chand’, ‘Do Badan’, ‘Hunraaz’, ‘Ankhen’, ‘Nikaah’ ‘Waqt’, ‘Neel Kamal’ and ‘Gumraah’. Films that won him Filmfare awards were ‘Gharana’ (1961) and ‘Khandaan’ (1965). Apart from Hindi, he also worked in several Malayalam films.
The makers of 1962 Telugu film ‘Manada Kamaraju Katha’ used Bombay Ravi’s popular song ‘Chaudhavin Ki Chand Ho Tum’ by translating the song in Telugu with lyrics ‘Neeli Megha Maalavo…’.
