Balakrishna, who earlier impressed the audience as Krishna and Arjuna in ‘Krishnarjuna Yuddam’ is now playing a full fledged mythological role in ‘Sri Ramarajyam’. Being directed by Baapu, the film features Balakrishna as Rama, Nayantara as Sita, Akkineni Nageswara Rao as Valmiki, Srikanth as Lakshmana and Saikumar as Bharath. Yalamanchi Sai Babu is producing this prestigious film with musical scores being rendered by music maestro Ilayaraja.

The unit of ‘Sri Ramarajyam’ just wrapped up the shooting in Ramoji Film City where a huge set was erected to shoot this film. Art directors Ravinder and Kiran designed the Darbaar set and Mahal set. On the last day of shooting the unit members felicitated Balakrishna with a large flower garland. In the words of Balakrishna, “In 1943 a film was made with the same title ‘Sri Ramarajyam’. Some part of that film was used in Lava Kusa. The main story of this film starts from the episode of Rama banishing Sita to the forest when she is pregnant. We started this film unexpectedly. I’m honoured to get the opportunity to portray the role played by my father.”

‘Sri Ramarajyam’ is set to hit theaters in September.
