Direction program and trade fair part of four-day event at HITEX
An exciting period of learning and knowledge enhancement at the onset of the Kharif crop awaits the farming community in the state. AGRITEX 2013 under the aegis of Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Limited (HITEX) is bringing together farming community, agri-specialists and agri-service providers under one roof through an Agricultural Direction Program and Trade Fair.
The four-day event was today inaugurated by Shri Kanna Laxmi Narayana, Minster for Agriculture GoAP at HITEX Exhibition Centre in the presence of Shri Anil Chandra Punetha, Principal Secretary Agriculture and Co-operative Dpt. and Dr. P. Gidda Reddy, Director of Extension, A.N.G.R.A.U. The Exhibition and trade fair will go on up to April 28, 2013.
AGRITEX has region wise direction programs covering over one lakh farmers in the span of four days. The event will also feature exhibition and sale of various farming needs and equipments — right from seeds to tractors. Interaction programs by industry experts are another key feature of this event.
As part of the event an Agri Mela is being organized by ICRISAT and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to be held on April 26 to showcase ready-to-commercialise agro-technologies under crops, horticulture, food technology, animal husbandry, cotton and jute fiber products and fisheries sector. The technologies will be presented by an agribusiness incubator which also detail out the process of technology transfer along with incubator services in making sure the venture succeeds.
At AGRITEX 2013, farmers will be trained and offered integrated solutions to improve productivity and simplify farming, while agri-service providers will get the opportunity to showcase and market their products, techniques and technologies to the participating farming community. In the Direction Program, farmers will be provided direction on various aspects of agriculture by experts from research institutes and state government agencies like International Crops Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Directorate of Rice Research (DRR), Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) etc.
"The event has over 150 exhibitors including manufacturers of seeds, pesticides fertilisers, farm equipment and banks and financial institutions, research institutes and government • agencies among several others. The major participants at AGRITEX 2013 comprise John Dere, Escorts, Eicher, Bayer, Pioneer Seeds, Nagarjuna Fertilisers, IFFCO3 Crompton Greaves, Honda Power Products, Dept. of Horticulture Andhra Pradesh, Dept of Agriculture Andhra Pradesh, Mitsubishi Mini Tractors, HDFC and ICICI among several others" said Mr. Sambit Mund, Head Trade Fair Division, HITEX. AGRITEX is slated to be the largest ever agricultural event in Andhra Pradesh and we plan to make the property an annual affair he added.
