Angkor Wat - an Indian Perspective Art Exhibition

A group show of paintings inspired by the Angkor Wat Temples in Cambodia, Kalakriti Art Gallery & ITC Kakatiya Hyderabad are pleased to announce the inauguration of the Hyderabad launch of ANGKOR WAT: AN INDIAN PERSPECTIVE, an exhibition of paintings by eleven young artists. The traveling show, which is going to be exhibited pan India under the aegis of Welcome Art has already traveled through Kolkata, Chennai & Jaipur.Envisaged by eminent painters, Swaroop Mukherji and Avijit Dutta, the show is an outcome of the workshop held at Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The emphasis was to revive the dying “Guru – Shishya“ mode of learning while seeking resonances between Cambodia and Indian Art & Cultures.Under the tutelage of “Guru” Prabhakar Kolte - eminent Painter & Art Historian, supported by Mr.Aditya Bajoria , eleven artists from all parts of India traveled to Cambodia to study the Angkor temples and record their experiences on Canvas . This thought and the experiences constituting this tremendous artistic quest have been documented in a book Angkor Wat: An Indian Perspective, which was released at the first exhibition at Kolkata.
