Hydourite has emerged as the most successful festival announced in the recent past. In the words of Jayesh Ranjan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of TSIIC, Hydourite is genuinely working towards promoting Art & Culture in the true sense. The best of talents, both local and international, are being brought into Hyderabad in events that are well organized and executed. What I really like is the concept of non-ticketed events, which makes it open to one and all. It is a concept, which I personally have been advocating for a long time, Jayesh Ranjan said.
It’s a brilliant idea to have a 100 days long program to nurture Art and Culture in all forms. It has been very painstakingly designed puts Hyderabad on the National & International Art and Cultural Map. I am sure hydourite will soon become a well-known “Art & Culture Festivals” of Hyderabad like other cities boast of like Mumbai’s Kalagoda Festival, Bhubaneswar’s Konark festival, Jaisalmer’s desert festival said V B Gadgil, CE&MD, L&T Metro.
In the words of Suhasini Maniratnam, Actress and one of the performers in Hydourite said for my Antaram’s show, the arrangements were perfect. An ordinary convention hall was changed into almost an opera house by the Hydourite team. Within a matter of hours we had a stage erected from nothing, a back projection system was fixed and rigging for my aerial act was done in a jiffy. We were given 3 make up rooms too which were erected specially for the show.
As for me, having worked and participated in many live events, this particular show was memorable for the meticulous planning and execution, Suhasini said Dara, Director, Golden Ideas by Dara said when Ramakrishna, one of the organisers invited me, I knew that it was going to be a High Quality Show that I won't miss. I've visited around 350 cities around the planet and I consider myself a Citizen of the World! ……this city that makes me feel even better than home.
The Hydourite festival which kicked off in November concluded after 14 events spread over 100 days. It was organised by Hydourite Foundation--a not-for-profit Trust as part of the “Happening Hyderabad”, the initiative of Government of Telangana. The Hydourite Foundation was formed to promote a continuous interest towards art and culture in the current and future generation. It is the dream of the trio--Ramakrishna Achanta, C.S. Manoj and Capt Anand, the team behind Hydourite Festival to make it global online with La Tomatina Festival in Spain; Tomorrow and in Belgium; Glastonbury — Glastonbury, England; Carnival — Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Wanderlust Yoga Festival — Oahu, Hawaii
The Trustees of Hydourite Foundation are looking forward to establish a Permanent Cultural Centre. Looking forward to raise funds required for the same. They are also looking at philanthropic individuals and organizations who can donate land, help monetarily to fulfill the dream. The proposed Cultural Centre will be hub for cultural activities which anybody and everybody can use free of cost. The city lacks a good cultural centre where a smallest artist can go showcase the talent to the world. Unfortunately, the city lacks such facility. Though there is one cultural centre Ravindra Bharathi, but, it mostly confined to government programs and to the mighty and influential few.
Hydourite Festival over the last three years emerged as the most happening festival and name to reckon. Now more and more artists are willingly come forward to performance as part of the Festival in Season 4, share Manoj of Hydourite Foundation.
When entertainment taxes are levied, cultural events become expensive affairs, Hydourite Festival came forward to offer Art and Cultural events of wide variety of artists free of cost. All event of the Hydourite are non ticketed. Anybody and everybody can avail donor passes free of cost to all the events.
Hydourite is the dream of three friends, the Trios' love for city took birth in 2012. A.V. Ramakrishna from Hyderabad, C.S. Manoj from Kerala and Capt. Anand from Chennai made Hyderabad their home and they love it the most. To show their love as well as be an example to others, all the three together conceived Hydourite, a festival to inculcate the spirit of Hyderabad three years ago. Today, this festival has become part of the “Happening Hyderabad”, an initiative of Government of Telangana. Hydourite is to Hyderabad, what Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is to Mumbai; ‘Bengaluru Habba’ - to Bengaluru; Sunburn, an electronic dance music festival to Goa; Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF) to Jodhpur; and Konark Dance and Music Fest to Konark.
Some of the programs of the Season 3 include Melange --Confluence of five varied art forms; Story Art India --Story Telling Event; Raghu Dixit --contemporary folk bands; Vaikuntam - VaishnavaYatra - The first ever dance ballet to showcase all the 108 DivyaDesams (Vishnu Temples), Antaram - This thematic dance theatre production featuring among others Suhasini Maniratnam; TrilokGurtu Band - , a leading Indian percussionist and composer; Anup Jalota Performance; Senior Citizens Antakshari; Hydourite Smiles--a fun filled carnival exclusively for underpriveleged kids and others.
Cultural Festivals like Hydourite are very important to bond people, inculcate sense of belongingness, connect them back to their roots and to showcase their culture. It is said the true patriotism is the love what one exhibits for their parents, mother tongue, birth place (Janmabhoomi) and culture. Globally Cultural Festivals, Cultural Tourism is engaged by many countries to ensure tourists inflow to their country and indirectly contribute to the economic growth of the city. More tourists’ inflow results in more employment generation. The World Travel and Tourism Council calculated that India’s tourism industry contributes close to 7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country and supports more than 40 Million jobs.
Culture is a unique tool that bonds people. Hydourite, conceived to get together all the Hyderabad loving people on to a single platform has various kinds of events woven around the spirit of Hyderabad with many Hyderabadis taking part actively. A series of Festivals, Camps, Awareness Sessions, Talk Shows, etc. covering a broad spectrum of categories will be organised at various places in the city for free.
More activity ensures more buzz, more talk. When you engage people of a city culturally, there is a less possibility of them involving in hatred, violent activities.
Festivals like Hydourite are more important especially to the newly formed State to package Hyderabad well, brand it, position and market. The city and the State has so much of diversity and special things, which are unique to our state only such as Bathukamma, Bonalu, Nirmal Handicrafts, Filigri, Pembarthi Metal Crafts.
In five years from now, we will make this event grow much beyond anybody’s expectation and it would be one such event that people will eagerly look forward to. We will make it a signature annual event for the city. We made a humble beginning three years back. Nearly 2 lakhHyderabadis attended our events so far. This year the magnitude of the event has gone up. More than 1.2 lakhaudiences are expected to grace our events, informed Ramakrishna.
