Hyderabad, December, 17, 2019: Governor of Telangana Her Excellency Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan called upon the people to respect the sacrifices made by martyrs belonging to police and military. She said that she appreciate every effort that gives due respect to the martyrs who give their best for the cause of people.
She was speaking at the closing ceremony of the art exhibition Reminiscences (Kashmir on Canvas) by artist Mrs Sireesha Srinivas at State Gallery of Art on Tuesday.
She said that sacrificing mindset always pays dividends in the society and applauded the way Mrs Sireesha captured the beauty of nature onto the canvas and dedicating the entire effort for the cause to support the families of police martyrs.
The four days art exhibition culminated with the sale of Rs 12 lakh worth paintings which were distributed among families of martyrs belonging to J&K Police and Telangana Police by the hands of Governor Mrs Tamilisai, DGP M Mahender Reddy and Commissioner Anjani Kumar during the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion M Mahender Reddy said that it was very difficult for police personnel to perform their duties in troubled places like Kashmir. He said that it was equally challenging for the police and for their families as well. Families of martyrs have to go through lot of trauma and several other social challenges that is the biggest sacrifice for the nation.
Appreciating the works of Mrs Sireesha and said that it was a very noble cause and applauded the very idea of paying respect to the families of martyrs. He said that Mrs Sireesha had brought the beauties of Kashmir to the Deccan Plateau through her paintings.
Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar recalled his days of joining the police service, challenges they faced and the tasks they took up all along. He said that events of such kind give a lot of encouragement and courage to do more for the society.
Mr.Ram Kumar Jayam, CEO, Backflipt purchased 19 portraits for Rs 3 lakhs. He is going to donate these paintings to Maha Vidya Peetam Temple, Dhundigal.
Mrs Sireesha Srinivas is the wife of Dr B Srinivas, IPS, ADG, J&K and envisioned this exhibition to be organized with the theme of ‘Pause for a cause-Art for a Pause’.
Mrs. Sireesha spent more than two decades in Kashmir Valley and has been witness to the tumultuous changes that Kashmir has passed through all these years. Postings of Dr. Srinivas enabled her to stay in most of the beautiful places from Kargil to Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. Mrs. Sireesha had put up her first solo exhibition in the Hungarian International Cultural Centre in New Delhi and since then she has participated in various art exhibitions at Jaipur, Jammu, Amritsar, Goa and Delhi. Many of her art works have found a place of pride in Corporate offices, Government office and private art collectors.
This exhibition has paintings that include Landscapes, Figurative, Still life, Drawings and Abstract works with Kashmir on Canvas.
Capturing nature’s landscapes on canvas with impeccable ease and the serious attention to the finer details reflects her signature style. She dabbles with colours in oil and acrylics with poise and the serenity in her paintings is in synchrony and symphony with nature. The flora, fauna and the people of Kashmir become part of her artistic drama that unfolds on the canvass. The Saffron flowers, the Shikaras, the Lambs and the Snow Peaks are the real emotive elements that come together in her paintings in a lyrical quality.
