Hyderabad April 2nd, 2018: Sports Mania 2018 was conducted by Hamstech at Oro Sports Village, Hyderabad on April 2. The annual sporting event is intended to inculcate team spirit combined with mental and physical refreshment for the students.
Student-centric events like Sports Mania have always been a part of the institute’s curriculum. This year also, students participated with great enthusiasm and displayed sportsman spirit.
The event started with great enthusiasm with the students reaching early in the morning at the venue. The Oro Sports Village was a great spot for conducting the games including cricket, badminton, table tennis, throw ball, football, kho kho, kabaddi and tug of war.
It was a memorable day, especially because of the Chief Guest chosen for the event, Mrs. Geeta Phogat. The first Indian woman wrestler to win international gold, graced the event and shared a lot of inspirational talk with the students. Her esteemed presence and motivational words made the students feel euphoric. For them, this was a rare moment of pride to interact with the real Dangal girl.
The games started off simultaneously. Outdoor sports like cricket, football and kho kho had students playing with a lot of excitement. Indoor events like table tennis and badminton showcased tremendous skill and spirit these creative professionals of tomorrow possessed.
Beating the heat seemed a lesser concern for the players as their excitement took lead. As Geeta Phogat would put it later, “It was wonderful to see both girls and boys coming forward and exhibiting equal amount of participation and enthusiasm. This is necessary for creating a culture of sports within the country”.
Post the lunch hour, the competitions achieved more momentum. All through the games, the camaraderie that the students exhibited was exemplary. The final event was the tug-of-war that had lots of cheer and action to it.
The winners of different categories of sports were awarded by Geeta Phogat. Shealso shared her own experiences and spoke about how she overcame the challenges in her sporting life with determination, hard work and confidence.
The event concluded with a brief DJ session with all the students enjoying the music and dancing to the rhythm. It was a day that celebrated the success of Hamstech’s culture of teamwork and unity.
