Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan announces the launch of the Mobile Blood Donation Van and upgradation of Rotary Challa Blood Bank.
Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan is a part of the Rotary International which has over 1.2 million volunteers with 31,000 Rotary clubs in over 167 Countries. The Rotary Foundation of the Rotary International is one of the world's most effective and best run Non-Profit organization with a spending of more than 120 million USD per year.
The Mobile Blood Donation Van serves as a mobile blood donation center and is equipped with everything necessary for blood donation procedures like collection equipment, donor beds and short-term storage solutions. It will significantly increase the outreach of our blood collection efforts.
The Rotary Challa Blood Bank is a service oriented venture of Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan. It provides free services to underprivileged children affected by Thalassemia. The upgradation includes the addition of critical equipment for collecting, storing and processing blood, as well as refurbishment of the Blood Bank premises.
Thalassemia is a rare genetic blood disorder that affects children due to defective synthesis of hemoglobin. Under the National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC) guidelines, it is mandatory to provide blood immediately to thalassaemia patients. These patients need to come to the blood bank every 15-20 days for transfusion.
The launch of the van and inauguration of the upgraded blood bank promises is being solemnized by Mr Vikas Raj, IAS, Principal Secretary and Commissioner, R & R, I & CAD and PR Department, Government of Telangana in the presence of the Guest of Honour, District Governor Rtn Abraham J.
This project has been completed by the Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan with the help of the international partner, Rotary Club of Naperville, District 6450, USA under the leadership of Rtn. Kamal Goel, President, Rotary Challa Blood Bank and Rtn. Som Dutt Sharma, President, Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan.
In its previous project, the Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan had set up a charitable Dialysis centre at Secunderabad to serve the needy of the society which provides a session of Dialysis treatment at just Rs.300/-. This centre has completed over 9600 dialysis in the first year of its operations. The club has completed several other projects in its endeavors to serve the society.
