Mass Jathara will celebrate fan-service moments without hindering the story, says director Bhanu Bhogavarapu, who awaits the release of the mass entertainer on the evening of October 31st. In this interview, the writer-turned-director talks about the highlights of the Sithara Entertainments product, whose trailer has boosted the appeal of the movie. Saying that the drama involving different major characters will stand out, he suggests that Bheems Ceciroleo's music will be another highlight (his personal favourite being Tu Mera Lover).
While I wanted to make a debut with a rom-com like Samajavaragamana, I ended up doing a mass film. That's because producers asked me to narrate a mass masala story. The first actor who comes to mind when we think of mass films is Ravi Teja. I was meticulous and extremely careful during the scripting stage, considering that he has previously donned the khaki uniform on the big screen and we have to make something special this time around.
The title was suggested by Ravi Teja himself. After he listened to the story, he felt the title would be apt because the script features all commercial ingredients. His confidence only boosted my sense of responsibility. So, I infused a few more mass elements. At the beginning, I didn't realize that this was going to be his 75th movie. It emerged only later. Ravi Teja asked me not to feel any pressure and do my job without bothering about all that.
The hero injured himself while canning an action sequence. Thanks to his support, we could complete the movie without hiccups and stress. The action scenes (choreographed by Venkat and Prithvi) will surely impress the audience.
The story is based on an unusual setting, in the backdrop of the Railways. The scenes are fresh. I can guarantee that we have a new point. Although the incidents narrated in the story are entirely fictional, I have infused realistic elements based on my interactions with many Railway police officers. The experiences they shared and some incidents they narrated were embedded into the story.
Producer Naga Vamsi didn't hesitate to erect a large station set on a budget of Rs 6.5 Cr. A Jathara episode also involved so much scale.
Naveen Chandra plays Sivudu, the chief antagonist. While everyone knows he is a great performer, we did a look-test with the make-up on. Everyone from producer Naga Vamsi felt it totally suited him. He has nailed it with his acting. Before him, I did consider a couple of artists. But only Naveen Chandra could have done it so well!
Sreeleela plays Tulasi. She was the first choice for the role. Even at the narration stage, everyone, including the producer, was convinced that Tulasi should go to Sreeleela. Hers is a consequential character in Mass Jathara. I designed her scenes with Ravi Teja in such a way that they feel like the massy ones between Chiranjeevi and Vijayashanthi in Gang Leader.
