K Ramp is a family entertainer that parents must watch: Director Jains Nani

Director Jains Nani comes from a short-film background. During his stint at the IIT-Madras, he made some short films, whose success with its viewers boosted his confidence. With his parents encouraging him to pursue his filmmaking dream, he moved to Hyderabad and pursued film dreams. In this interview, Kiran talks about K-Ramp, which hits the cinemas on October 18.

K-Ramp has no vulgar allusion to it. The title is meant to denote Kiran Abbavaram's character, Kumar. Since he is buffeted by chaos from all sides, the title K-Ramp, where 'K' stands for Kumar, is apt. While a few other names were under consideration, none of them had the same catchiness as K-Ramp.

K-Ramp is, through and through, a full-on family film. A couple of zany lines in the trailer don't take away from its family-friendly narrative, which is also tight with just three songs. There are no unnecessary hindrances. The narrative neatly bifurcates into a hero-centric first half, followed by a lead pair-centric second half. Yukti Thareja's character gets to do more in the second half. She participated in acting workshops before the shoot.

The story takes place in Kerala, whose unique cultural backdrop gave the film a distinct aesthetic and visual flavour. We got to shoot on the campus of a scenic college. Several picturesque locations in Kerala were also chosen for other portions.

As we have been saying, the interval block will be a total surprise. It will be loved by the audience. This is not a film with just a few big moments. This has a remarkable story and will be engaging throughout. Kamalini Jethmalani has a cameo. VK Naresh's scenes are hilarious.

The idea behind the youth-centric trailer was to attract youngsters, to grab their attention. It's they who flock to theatres first. Once they like a film, the positive word of mouth spreads itself.

Contrary to what many might be assuming, K-Ramp is a story-based narrative that parents have to watch with their children.

The film was shot in 47 working days. Kiran didn't interfere after giving his insights during the scripting stage. Despite the intense Diwali competition, we are confident about the success of our movie. Having watched it during post-production, we know how well it has shaped up.
