"Hari Hara Veera Mallu depicts the atrocities of an inhuman Mughal emperor (read Aurangzeb, played by Bobby Deol), who brutally murdered his own brother. It's a film about a warrior who fought for Dharma. Hindus had to pay taxes to live as Hindus during his rule," says Power Star Pawan Kalyan, ahead of the release of his most expensive movie till date. In a chit-chat with the media on Tuesday, here is what he said.
I give politics the first priority in my life. After that, it's films. What I know is acting in films. Films have fed me and given me a livelihood
HHVM's production faced many ups and downs. It withstood natural calamities, man-made disasters, and political setbacks. The producers (AM Rathnam and A Dayakar Rao) stood strong with great courage in many aspects. I am participating in promotions out of my sense of responsibility towards them.
The previous government caused trouble by reducing my movie ticket prices to as low as Rs 15. Producers who worked with me suffered significant losses due to the mindset of past rulers. All sorts of attempts were made to completely cripple my films financially.
The ticket prices have been increased for my film just in the same way as they were done for previous movies. In rising rates for some movies, the government considers the hard work and effort of the producers.
I will definitely arrange a special screening for my fellow public representatives (MLAs).
The outcome of Johnny in 2003 can be said to have matured me further in my political life. As soon as the film was declared a flop, I invited all the buyers and financiers home and settled with them. I remained silent for a long time. That day, the result of the film Johnny taught me how to withstand failure in politics and move forward.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part 2 is also 20% complete.
