If the title 28°C sounds intelligent, its story indeed seems to be that. To be released in theatres on April 4th, the thriller narrates the story of two medicos who are in love with each other. Supernatural elements kick in.
Director Dr. Anil Vishwanath began the project in 2017. Just when the movie was aimed for a release in 2020, the pandemic-induced lockdown failed the plan. The makers have resisted the temptation of selling off their movie to OTT platforms for subpar rates. They have total faith in the ability of 28°C to become a theatrical hit.
In this interview, the director talks about the movie.
Individuals suffering from brain damage cannot tolerate extreme heat or cold. This scientifically proven concept is at the centre of the story of 28°C. There is a suspense factor involved. This particular aspect will keep the audience glued to the story till the climax.
I happened to pitch the story to Adivi Sesh at first. He couldn't do the film because of dates issues. Naveen Chandra readily came on board; he really loved the story.
The production journey was not easy. A 25-day schedule in Georgia involved challenges, including the theft of cameras. Also, due to practical issues, we were turned back by authorities twice for want of permissions.
The success of Polimera, whose script I wrote, rejuvenated my self-belief. That's when I felt that 28°C must be revived. When it all began in 2017, I started pouring in effort, time, and money into the project. Since it didn't see a theatrical release, I was disappointed. But the confidence that Polimera's success gave me changed everything.
Distributor Vamsi Nandipati (who has previously released Kiran Abbavaram's KA and Maa Oori Polimera 2 in theatres) has come forward to release my movie. More than money, I am looking at acceptance. On April 4th, our movie is going to get the maximum possible release.
This 2-hour movie is so unique that nobody has been able to come up with a similar concept, be it in the feature film format or in the web series format. The unique backdrop is arresting and novel.
I am engaged with 12A Railway Colony, a horror thriller starring Allari Naresh in the lead. While I am penning its screenplay, an associate named Nani Kasaragadda is helming it.
Up next, I am also planning an investigative crime thriller with Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas as the hero.
Polimera 3, which is another of my upcoming projects, will be a period thriller. Currently in the pre-production stage, its visual canvas in terms of CG is going to be extraordinary. The massive film will be a Sankranthi 2026 release. It will be a multi-lingual release in Indian languages. A star hero will play a prominent role.
