Director Susheela Subrahmanyam awaits the release of 'GEM' on September 17. In this interview, he talks about the premise of the romantic actioner, his sensibilities and more. Vijay Raja, Rashi Singh and Nakshatra are its main leads. With music by Sunil Kashyap, 'GEM' has fights by Real Satish.

I hail from Guntur and came to Hyderabad with the aim of becoming a filmmaker. I have worked as an assistant writer and AD as well.

Coming to 'GEM', it's an action film in a full-fledged way. It's releasing in theatres on September 17. The heroine's character is suspenseful. I am confident that she is going to get 150% from the audience.

The premise involves envy between two girls since their childhood. Their jealousy takes the form of hatred. A man enters their lives and what their ego clashes lead to is the crux of the story. There is a love story that has been told in a commercial fashion.

The backdrop is Rayalaseema. The title is 'GEM' and it denotes the hero's intelligence and spontaneity. He is like a superhero.

There have been faction movies in the past. 'GEM' has a faction backdrop but it's not about factional fights. The ego clashes between the main characters is the main element.

Shivaji Raja garu was elated on listening to the story. He felt that the movie will definitely suit his son. You don't find a hero in my story. You are going to see only the character. He is someone who can face any challenge. I feel I have done full justice to the story.

I want to make movies to entertain the audience. A film should make for a breezy watch. That's why I love commercial movies.

After 'Vikramarkudu', Ajay garu has done the best sort of role in my movie. His character will be pivotal. Sampoornesh Babu has done a key role. His character will surely draw whistles from the audience.

Andrew's cinematography has taken my vision to the next level. The RR is going to be another highlight. Rashi Singh's performance is indispensable.

A Censor Board member told me that I will become a big commercial director if the pandemic doesn't play the spoilsport. A lot of films fail either due to poor scripting or poor presentation. When I worked as a writer, I kept on working on the scripting skills. After working under a few writers, I gained confidence in my abilities. I then worked as an AD on 7-8 movies. I also did a film as a Co-Director.

My next film will be a multi-starrer. It will be a full-on commercial movie.
