'101 Jillala Andagadu' will be released in theatres on September 3. In this interview, actress Ruhani Sharma talks about her character, what made her do the comedy entertainer, her upcoming movies and more.
It's the character in '101 Jillala Andagadu' that attracted me to the film. The Srinivasa Avasarala factor also made me go for it. Both his character and mine are so beautifully written. As you have seen in the trailer, it's the story of a balding man who is embarrassed about his looks. It was Srinivas himself who had narrated the story to me. I came on board because I loved it totally. Vidyasagar Rachakonda, the director, is incredible. Despite the fact that he is not the story-writer, he has executed the story like his own.
I have become good friends with Srinivas. He is a great actor and a brilliant writer. More than that, he is a lovely human being.
Although I don't have much space in the film's trailer, my character is the soul of the story. I have done a couple of movies where I didn't have much screen time. If my character is integral to the story, even if it is limited to a couple of scenes, I will go for it. I don't bother about the screen time.
The film talks about inner beauty. What you feel about yourself is more important than physical looks. That's how I define beauty too. Accepting yourself completely is what means beauty.
It has been three years since I debuted in Telugu. But I have done only four movies. I have done a couple of non-Telugu movies in the meanwhile. I did 5 movies in 2019 in different languages. The pandemic has slowed down things a lot.
I am not comfortable playing extremely bold roles. I definitely don't mind doing mildly glamorous roles.
'Chi La Sow' continues to be the most talked-about film in my career. After that movie, I landed a big project but it didn't work out eventually. I personally love to do love stories. I also want to act in a psychological thriller. In Malayalam, I have done a dark character already. I have done movies in Tamil and Hindi as well.
I am doing 'Meet Cute', which is produced by Natural Star Nani. It's a five-story anthology, which might mostly release in OTT. I have scenes with Satyaraj garu, the 'Baahubali' actor.
