I haven't found time to enjoy the success of 'A1 Express', given I have been busy promoting 'CKC'. It's good to hear that I am a lucky charm for Geetha Arts, which is producing 'CKC'. It's true that they are the lucky charm for me as well. Most of their films have clicked at the box-office.
When producer Bunny Vasu told me about the story of 'CKC', he didn't mean to enlist me for the role of the heroine. I told him that the heroine's character is progressive. I wondered as to who would play the widow's role. Director Koushik Pegallapati conveyed to the producer that he would want someone like me to play the role.
When the film came to me, I knew that I have to play it. I didn't have any riders for doing the film. I just took the plunge.
I didn't sport make-up in 'Andala Rakshasi'. In 'CKC', I had to tan my skin to suit the character. The director roped me in because he liked me in my first movie.
Mallika in 'CKC' is borderline. She doesn't make her feelings obvious. 'A1 Express' was somewhat close to the real me. In contrast, my character in 'CKC' is nothing like me.
Widowhood is not made into a major issue in the film. What I liked about the story is that Basthi Balaraju (Kartikeya) has a broad-minded person. When it comes to films like 'Shankardada MBBS', you laugh while watching the movie but also get a message.
This is not a massy character. It's a classy character. Kartikeya is a brilliant actor. This is going to be a landmark film for him.
Director Koushik is very clear about what he wants. No matter how senior an actor is, he says okay to a shot only if he is satisfied. The best thing is to go with him and listen to him. After giving a shot, I look at the director's face for approval.
The movie is set in Vizag. My look is like a typical Telugu woman's. The director didn't want to risk it by allowing me to dub for my character. I wanted to dub but the producer-director duo felt that we have inadequate time on hand.

I think I am a comedy piece. But I don't get to play comedy roles often. I love to make people laugh. I am a very positive person. When I see a sad person, I would like to make that person laugh.
