King Nagarjuna and Anushka starrer magnum opus ‘Dhamarukamm’ opened to theaters worldwide on November 23rd grandly. This socio-fantasy flick was directed by Srinivasa Reddy and produced by Dr Venkat under R R Movie Makers banner with K Atchi Reddy as its presenter. Devisri Prasad rendered the music. On the eve of the film’s grand success, director Srinivasa Reddy organised a press meet to thank the audience. At this juncture he had a small chit-chat with the media personnel and shared his happiness. A few excerpts are:
People are comparing Dhamarukamm with Lord Shiva temple
‘Dhamarukamm’ is Nagarjuna’s first socio-fantasy film, hence he considers it as very important movie. It’s also the highest budget movie
which collected highest shares. Though we regretted for postponing the film after fixing two to three release dates, now we are very happy at the box-office results. Nagarjuna’s fans and audience still had lot of hopes on the movie. They were very anxiously waiting for the movie release. Nag’s fans celebrated the release of movie as a festival. With the blessings of Lord Shiva, the movie got released during the Karthika Masam which we call it a sentiment. There is positive response all over and we are very happy that ‘Dhamarukamm’ impressed all segments of audiences. All theaters have been full from Sunday onwards with family audiences. I’m glad to say that even women are coming to theaters to watch the movie despite today being Karthika Somavaram. I’m happy when people compared watching this movie is like going to Lord Shiva temple. This success goes to the entire team right from the light-boy to the producer. I thank the audience for giving us such a huge hit.
Nagarjuna’s Godavari Slang is the highlight
Nagarjuna garu was very patient and cooperated with me in every scene. I consider myself lucky for getting the opportunity to work with Nagarjuna garu. It took two weeks for us to shoot the climax scene because it’s a risky fight. We have shown Nagarjuna garu in a new angle. The Godavari slang he used in this film is one of the highlights. Although he had used that slang in ‘Hello Brother’ and ‘President Gari Pellam’, we have taken the help of Krishna Bhagawan during dubbing. His body language and costumes aptly suited his character. Anushka is the central point of the film. Many have commented that Prakash Raj is apt in the role of Lord Shiva. Ravi Shankar’s character is vital in the film. His performance in some scenes reminded me of S V Ranga Rao garu.
Devisri’s music brought half the success to the film
Devisri Prasad’s music was the biggest asset to the film. All ten songs are masterpieces. He is known for doing re-recording work in a very less time. However he had put in lot of efforts for this film and worked over 40 days to get the best output. There was tremendous response for the re-recording as well. We have tasted 50% success on the audio release day itself. So Devisri’s music brought half the success to the film.
The last 35 minutes is the highlight
The main highlights of the film will be seen in the last 35 minutes. We shot the climax on par with Hollywood standards. One should appreciate the fireplay team for their remarkable work in graphics. When it comes to cinematography, Chota K Naidu captured every scene superbly like a feast to eyes. He took lot of care in every minute thing while picturising the film.

Undoubtedly I can say that comedy is my strength. So there is no question of leaving the comedy trend. After Dasari Narayana Rao garu, it’s EVV garu who touched subjects belonging to all genres. Hence I’m inspired by EVV garu a lot. He is my role model and I will follow his path forever.
I’ve prepared an aptly suitable script for Chaitanya
The entire Akkineni family is showering praises on me with the success of ‘Dhamarukamm’. I’m very happy to say that they have offered me to do a film with Naga Chaitanya. I’ve prepared a script for Chaitanya which is a tailor made one for him. I will definitely live up to their expectations for the trust they had on me.
