Director Nag Ashwin's latest comments on the release timeline for Kalki 2 suggest that the film won't hit the screens anytime soon. The sequel to the successful mythological sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD will probably go on the floors towards the end of 2025 or in 2026.
The director suggested that a lot of actors have to be able to allot their dates for the project. They are busy at the moment, and their dates won't be secured anytime soon.
Nag Ashwin, known for Yevade Subrahmanyam and Mahanati, added that the scale of the action blocks is more expansive than those in the first part, necessitating extensive pre-viz.
Earlier, Nag Ashwin stated that Kalki 2 will happen "when the planets align". His latest comments don't give a definite timeline either.
Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, Kalki 2898 AD grossed over Rs 1,180 crore globally after its June 2024 release.
