Ignoring Market Pulse: Rajasekhar's 'Lubber Pandhu' Remake Raises Eyebrows

The Tamil movie Lubber Pandhu is a sports drama that revolves around the intense rivalry and ego clash between two prominent rubber-ball (lubber pandhu) cricket players in a small town. A blockbuster at the Tamil box office, it is now being reportedly remade in Telugu. Dr. Rajasekhar will headline it alongside Ramya Krishna. Shivani Rajasekhar and 35 Chinna Katha Kaadhu fame Vishwadev Rachakonda are also on board.

It's just unbelievable that someone thinks a remake sells in the shaky post-OTT theatrical market. Reportedly, Rajasekhar himself is bankrolling the project, as the one who owns the remake rights.

Rajasekhar, given his immense talent, should have been among the most sought-after character artists/villains today. However, his incessant urge to play leading roles has meant that he has been unable to cash in on his potential. Lubber Pandhu is the second remake he is doing after the 2022 movie Shekar, which was a washout.

It's evident that Rajasekhar has no hand on the pulse of the market. He keeps chasing remakes and later-day stardom in the age of new-age actioners/thrillers and OTT.
