There was a time when film magazines used to necessarily have a still or photo of Megastar Chiranjeevi on their cover. It was a marketing strategy, aimed at attracting his fan base to buy magazine copies.
In the early 2000s, a then-financially defunct magazine struck a one-year deal with a liquor brand. In the first issue to come out after the deal, the liquor ad and Chiranjeevi's picture were published on the same page. It came across as though the Megastar had endorsed the liquor brand. Once Chiru became aware of the magazine issue, he summoned its Editor and told him the magazine could feature either the liquor ads or his photos in the future.
Since the deal with the liquor brand was a matter of survival for the magazine, it stopped publishing Chiru's stills on the cover after the actor's warning. Even the magazine MD couldn't convince Chiranjeevi.
