Senior film producer Allu Aravind was on Friday grilled by the Enforcement Directorate for three hours. While early media reports linked the questioning to the Ramakrishna Electronics Bank scam case, the producer himself elaborated on the same after coming out of the questioning.
"Back in 2017, I bought a property. Its minor partner has been embroiled in a financial case over (alleged) non-payment of bank dues. That's why I was questioned because my name is on record (as a fellow owner of the property). The media needn't blow this out of proportion. I am not supposed to speak much about the case at this juncture," Aravind said.
Allu Aravind was recently in the news over the theatre shutdown issue. He clarified that he hasn't been a major player in the exhibition sector for a few years. With the sole exception of the famous AAA Cinemas in Hyderabad, he doesn't own any other screen in Telangana. "Of the 1500 screens in the Telugu States, I hardly run 15 of them. I am not interested in renewing the leases of even these theatres once they expire," Aravind, who makes movies on Geetha Arts and GA2 Pictures, stated.
