Mrunal Thakur says sorry for insulting Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu was seen as a siren of sorts in the 2000s. Her fame was unprecedented. Despite the sincere efforts of many Tollywood producers to cast her in Telugu movies, they failed. Because they couldn't afford her.

In an interview many years ago, Mrunal Thakur described Bipasha as "manly with muscles". That was in the context of a casual chit-chat with a male co-star. "If you want a toned body, go marry Bipasha. I am better than her," Mrunal remarked during the talk.

Earlier this week, the old interview went viral on social media. Reacting to it, Mrunal Thakur issued an apology via Instagram. The Sita Ramam actress commented that she was 19 when she made those remarks. "I didn't understand the weight of my voice," the Hi Nanna actress added. She further wrote, "My intent was never to body-shame anyone. It was playful banter in an interview that went too far. But I understand how it came across, and I truly wish I had chosen my words differently. With time, I have grown to appreciate that beauty comes in every form, and that’s something I truly value now,” Mrunal added.
