At Sunday's IIFA Awards event, Rakul Preet Singh made headlines for avoiding a question about the ongoing controversy surrounding her father-in-law and Bollywood film producer, Vashu Bhagnani.
For those who don't know, Vashu has been accused of not paying dues to the tune of Rs 65 lakh to crew members from several of his recent films.
Rakul, known for 'SPYder' and several other Telugu films, was questioned by reporters about the allegations. She reportedly walked away, stating, "Sorry."
As per Bollywood news media in June this year, Vashu Bhagnani sold off his banner's seven-floor office in Mumbai to repay a debt close to the tune of Rs. 250 Cr. He also laid off 80% of his employees. His banner, Pooja Entertainment, which is known for blockbusters such as 'Coolie No. 1' (1995), 'Hero No. 1' (1997), among others, has allegedly been in deep financial mess. The banner received a huge jolt with the failure of the recent Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff movie, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'. As per reports, its budget was nearly Rs 300 Cr but it ended up making just Rs 60 Cr at the box-office.
