R Narayana Murthy, at an event in Hyderabad on Friday, urged the Tollywood media to desist from writing reviews until the end of the first weekend of a movie's release. He said that, in the old days, reviews used to be published a week after the release of movies.
"Back in the day, the media allowed the audience the time to form their own opinions. These days, ratings are coming out even before the first show in India is shown to the audience. This is most certainly hurting the film industry. Not every producer here is as big as Dil Raju garu and not every banner is huge like Mythri Movie Makers. Most of the producers are small," Murthy said.
Recently, the Kerala High Court questioned the review-bombing of movies, saying that YouTubers have been damaging film business by giving extremely negative reviews within hours of a film's release.
