Conventional superstar definition doesn't apply to Pawan Kalyan

In a recent interview, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor distanced himself from the superstar tag. "For a long time, everyone called me the next superstar. But I'm not one yet. You need a consistent string of blockbusters to be called a superstar," the 'Animal' actor stated.

Ranbir's precise definition of a superstar can't be contested, generally speaking. But the fact is that not many down south would be in agreement with him.

Pawan Kalyan stands out as a prime example. He had no hits for many years after 'Kushi' in 2001. 'Gabbar Singh' was a blockbuster but that came in 2012. 'Attarintiki Daredi' minted cool returns in the following year.

However, most of his films after and before the above two films were box-office flops. Yet, Pawan Kalyan remains the undisputed superstar, enjoying more craze than other heroes, although the movies of Prabhas and Mahesh Babu keep amassing higher returns.
