Sagar Pictures Entertainment, the company behind the iconic television series 'Ramayana' (1987) and the National Award-winning film '1971' (2007), is embarking on a new grand venture. They are set to produce a series of mega-films and web series based on the Srimad Bhagavatam, the ancient scripture.

This ambitious project will feature a pan-Indian cast of A-list actors and will be backed by a leading international VFX company to create a visually stunning experience.

The project's announcement comes without specific details of who is going to play Lord Krishna. Recently, in 'Kalki 2898 AD', Krishna was played by an unknown actor. Prabhas played Lord Rama in 'Adipurush' but nobody was in awe of him in the film. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are playing Rama and Sita, respectively, in a Hindi-language original. Recently, the film reportedly faced a legal hurdle. A few years ago, Madhu Mantena and Allu Aravind wanted to make a thousand-crore rupee project on the Ramayana. The plans have been shelved.
