The Movie Artists Association (MAA), in collaboration with the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police, has successfully terminated five YouTube channels. These channels were accused of "repeatedly posting derogatory comments about actors, their families, and engaging in personal attacks," according to a statement released by the MAA today.

The targeted channels include: Just Watch BBC, Trolls Raja, Bachina Lalith, Hyderbad Kurradu, and xyzeditz007.

The MAA emphasized that this is merely the first step in a larger effort. They plan to hold more channels accountable for similar offenses.

Will the action be legally tenable? It is an open question and depends on what content warranted the termination of the YouTube channels. Some channels do publish obnoxious content. They will find it hard to challenge the termination legally. Also, not everyone has the financial resources, time and energy to fight cases.
