Sad! 'Premam' maker Alphonse Puthren quits cinema for a shocking reason

Mollywood filmmaker Alphonse Puthren is considered one of the biggest stars of the new-wave Malayalam cinema. He is also a producer, actor, editor, writer, and ad film maker. His 2013 suspense-thriller 'Neram' was his first break. But it was his romantic film 'Premam', which was released in 2015, that really made him a force to reckon with. 'Premam' was remade in Telugu with Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Haasan in 2016.

The news is that Alphonse, whose craftsmanship is admired by a lot of contemporary filmmakers, has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The filmmaker today wrote that he will not be making feature films anymore.

Those suffering from the Disorder have trouble communicating with others. In his social media message, Alphonse stated that he discovered the Disorder in him on his own. The director added that the "twist" in his life has come like an "interval punch".

The director will make video albums and will do OTT projects.
