Pragathi Mahavadi, the sought-after character artist, is hurt that a Telugu daily recently speculated about her personal life. The daily claimed that Pragathi would be opting for a remarriage and that a divorced senior Tollywood producer is her fiance.
Reacting to the gossip item, Pragathi today put out a video statement saying that it is deeply offensive. "Just because I am an actor, you can't be irresponsible about what you write about me. This particular gossip has really hurt me," Pragathi said.
Following her statement, the daily issued an apology. "We published the news story based on some social media speculations and web media reports. We regret the hurt caused," the daily wrote, pulling down the fake news. It is a rare occasion when a fake news has been acknowledged by a prominent Telugu media house. Usually, these publications silently remove controversial items without caring to apologize to the offended party.
