Om Shanti! Chandra Mohan is no more

Chandra Mohan, born as Mallampalli Chandrasekhara Rao in 1943, breathed his last on Saturday. The acting veteran, who is a household name among the Telugus, died of cardiac arrest at Hyderabad's Apollo Hospital at 9:45 am. He was 80. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. His last rites will be held on Monday at Hyderabad's Maha Prasthanam.

The acclaimed actor, known for playing comedy, emotional and family-friendly roles, enjoyed fandom for decades. He bagged the Best Male Comedian Nandi Award for 'Chandamama Raave' (1987) and the Best Character Actor Nandi for 'Athanokkade' (2005). The 1966 film 'Rangula Ratnam' was his breakout outing.

'Duvvada Jagannadham', 'Hyper', 'Goutham Nanda', 'Mister', and 'Oyxgen' are among his last movies. In an interview last year around his birthday, Chandra Mohan said that he was living with good health because of the blessings of elders, the prayers of his family members, and the wishes of his fans.

Several Tollywood film celebs have started putting out condolence messages. Extending his deepest condolences, Jr NTR wrote, "It is very sad to see the untimely death of Chandramohan garu, who has earned special recognition for himself by playing a multitude of roles in films for many decades."
