Jio Studios has announced 100 titles in one go. By titles, the content arm of Reliance Industries Limited means both direct-to-digital films and web series. Titles have been announced in multiple languages, especially Hindi. Content is also going to come out in Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati and Bhojpuri, among other languages.
While Jio Studios might produce original content in Telugu as well, the fact of the matter is that no well-known Telugu star has made it to the OTT platform's slate.
Several star heroes from Bollywood have made it to the slate, though. Among them are Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kartik Aryan, Shraddha Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao, and the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, among others. Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan are also there in Jio Studios' films.
From Kollywood, Vijay Sethupathy, R Madhavan and Arvind Swamy have been named.
However, no prominent Telugu face has been roped in. Is it because almost all Telugu heroes have no dates for the next 2-3 years? Is it because no Telugu writer/director could impress Jio Studios' creative heads with a good story? The answer could be 'yes' to both.
