'Swathi Muthyam' avoided a smaller clash, only to go for a big clash

'Swathi Muthyam' is all set to clash with 'Godfather' and 'The Ghost'. The three films are coming out in theatres on October 5.

The family entertainer, starring debutant Ganesh Bellmakonda and Varsha Bollamma as the lead pair, was supposed to be released on August 13. But the postponement of 'Karthikeya 2' and its eventual release on August 12 made Sithara Entertainments move 'Swathi Muthyam' to September. For whatever reason, the banner once again postponed the movie's release to Dasara.

It is a hypothetical question whether 'SM' would have been stamped out due to intense competition from Nikhil's movie, 'Bimbisara' and 'Sita Ramam' in August. But the film was postponed in the right spirit by producer S Naga Vamsi.

'SM' avoided a smaller clash, but it is going for an enormous clash by colliding head-on with the movies of Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna. Unlike mid-August, Dasara is a big crowd-pulling season. October 5th is a Wednesday and despite the Dasara advantage, 'SM' is going to face the most intense competition conceivable. It is going to be cut-throat in the era of OTT.

Sithara Entertainments, whose otherwise small film 'DJ Tillu' was a hit, must have made the decision after considering all pros and cons.
