'The Gray Man' is set to be streamed on Netflix from July 22. The American action thriller is based on a novel written by Mark Greaney. Since 2009, ever since directors Russo Brothers read the novel, they had been wanting to adapt it into a film.

In a statement, the directors have commented that the action thriller is replete with "energy". They added, "It has a compressed time frame that makes you sit on the edge of your seat while you are watching the story unfold."

The exclusive Netflix release was shot in Los Angeles, France, the Czech Republic, Thailand, Croatia, Austria and Azerbaijan.

The film belongs to a peculiar genre. "We have reflected on our own fears about the world. Considering the peculiar genre of the film, we wanted to create a world for the audience to immerse themselves in," the directors said.

The film has started receiving accolades from reviewers who have watched its premieres. "Let’s not beat around the bush: #TheGrayMan is the most exciting original action property Netflix has delivered since 'Bright' (sic)," reviewed Variety. The globe-trotting movie has got impeccable performances from Chris Evans and Dhanush. The latter has made a "brief and memorable" Hollywood debut.
